FISSIDENTACEAE

The Fissidentaceae is a family of which Tasmania has a single genus, Fissidens, and c.16 species.

Fissidens is a very distinctive and unmistakable genus, even in the absence of capsules. The leaves are always distichous (i.e. in two opposite rows on the stem).
