Hedwigidium is a monotypic genus represented by
H. integrifolium.
H. integrifolium is a usually found as loose turfs on rocks in
dry high altitude areas. When dry, the leaves are tightly pressed
against the stem but spreads widely in wet conditions. The leaf
lacks a nerve but my be pleated. The margins of the leaves are also
recurved when examined closely. The capsules stalk is very short,
holding the capsules very close to the shoots.
H. integrifolium may be confused with
Rhacocarpus
purpurascens but differs in lacking the long hairpoint on
the leaf tips.
