Hedwigidium (Hedwigiaceae)

Hedwigidium is a monotypic genus represented by H. integrifolium.

H. integrifolium is a usually found as loose turfs on rocks in dry high altitude areas. When dry, the leaves are tightly pressed against the stem but spreads widely in wet conditions. The leaf lacks a nerve but my be pleated. The margins of the leaves are also recurved when examined closely. The capsules stalk is very short, holding the capsules very close to the shoots.

H. integrifolium may be confused with Rhacocarpus purpurascens but differs in lacking the long hairpoint on the leaf tips.
