HYPNACEAE
   
The Hypnaceae is a family of mosses typified by the genus Hypnum.

Members of the Hypnaceae have creeping stems which are somewhat pinnately branched. The leaves have a very conspicuous alar region.

In Tasmania, the Hypnaceae are represented by 2 genera and around 4 species.
