Atrichum (Polytrichaceae)

In Tasmania, Atrichum is represented by a single species, A. androgynum.

A. androgynum is a turf-forming moss common in wet forest to rainforest. The shoots are large and the leaves have unmistakably undulate margins, making this species easy to identify even when sterile. In cross section, lamellae are only present on the midrib.
