Polytrichadelphus (Polytrichaceae)

Tasmania has a single species of Polytrichadelphus, P. magellanicus.

P. magellanicus is a common colony forming turfed moss on shady roadsides in both upland and lowland areas. The leaves are slightly glaucous and are tapered to a sharp point. Female shoots have a lopsided appearance, a feature which is slightly less obvious in smaller male plants.
