In
Tasmania, Calyptopogon is represented by a single species,
C. mnioides. C. mnioides is a common epiphyte of
forests at higher altitudes. It grows in loose turfs or cushions
among other mosses.
When wet, the undulating green to grey-green leaves spread from
the stem but when dry the leaves assume a rather crisped or twisted
appearance. Most distinctively, a cluster of gemmae is present on
the top surface of the leaves near the leaf tips. |
