Triquetrella is a moss genus which in Tasmania is
represented by 2 species.
T. papillata is a common moss occupying loose mats on
rock or earth, often in grassy places or on old dunes. It may even
be observed growing near salt marshes.
In dry conditions, the leaves are wrapped around the stem but
when under wet conditions, the leaves are widely spreading and are
distinctively arranged in three rows around the stem.
T. tasmanicum (previously Anomodon tasmanicus and
Triquetrella curvifolia) is a smaller species with hyaline
leaf tips and rhizoids anchoring the stems to the substrate.
