Tasmania, Ptychomnion is represented by a single species,
Ptychomnion aciculare.
Ptychomnion aciculare, commonly known as the 'Pipe-cleaner
moss', is possibly the most common moss in Tasmania and is
found in a wide variety of wet habitats (eg. wet forest and rain
forest) and even urban habitats. A very adaptable species, it may be
found growing on a wide range of substrates from rock, earth to tree
