The Racopilaceae in
Tasmania is represented by a two species in Tasmania.
Racopilum cuspidigerum and R. strumiferum.
Differentiating between species requires fertile material though.
Racopilum spp. are common in wet forest to rainforest and
grow on a variety of substrates like logs and rocks.
Once known, members from the genus Racopilum are
unmistakable. The leaves are arranged in 3 to 4 ranks with two ranks
of normal sized lateral leaves and 1 to 2 ranks smaller sized leaves
on the upper side of the stem.
