Amphidium (Rhabdoweisiaceae)

In Tasmania, Amphidium is represented by a single species, A. tortuosum. The genus was previously placed under the Orthotrichaceae.

A. tortuosum is a cushion forming moss that dwells on rocks. It resembles species of Dicranoweisia but differs in the occurrence of papillae (protuberances) on the leaf cells.
