In
Tasmania, Hymenodon is represented by single species,
H. pilifer.
This species is almost always found growing in gregarious turfs on the caudex (trunk)
of tree ferns.
The combination of the very long hair-point at the leaf apex, glaucous appearance,
and preference for tree fern substrates should be sufficient in
discerning the species.
