In Tasmania, the Thuidiaceae consists of 2 genera (Thuidium
and Thuidiopsis) and 4 species of
mosses. The stems of Thuidiaceae are crowded with leaf-like
structures called paraphyllia, which may be mistakened for gemmae or
asexual propagules. Distinguishing between genera may require
looking at stem details. A key to the genus and species is in the
works.
