Brachypodium
distachyon is an uncommon weed that resembles
Vulpia species. These include
some widespread and abundant weeds. The inflorescences of
Brachypodium are
more-or-less open racemes. The leaves are flat and often hairy, the
ligule is a membrane. The spikelets are flattened from side to side
and have several flowers. Each lemma has a straight awn at the end.
The glumes are larger (>5mm) than those of Vulpia and have
multiple veins. |
