Elymus (formerly known as Agropogon; Poaceae) 4b:294
Tasmania has one native and one introduced species of Elymus (although Elytrigia, Lophopyrum and Thinopyrum were also included in this genus). The native species (E. scaber) is a common species in dry grasslands.

The inflorescence is a spike of spikelets. The spikelets have awns on the flowers (up to 5cm log) and are attached to a zig-zag stem.
