Tasmania has
four introduced species of Eragrostis. These are large erect
annuals with flat (or sometimes twisted) leaves, with a row of hairs
for a ligule. The other distinctive features of this genus include the open
panicles of awnless, multiple-flowered distinctly flattened spikelets.
They grow in lowland, disturbed areas. Eragrostis cilianensis
is stink grass. The inflorescences are a very distinctive, dark
grey, leaden colour. |
