Parapholis (Poaceae) 4b:226
Tasmania has two introduced species of Parapholis. These are annual species of dunes, saltmarshes and other coastal areas. They are small plants. The inflorescence is an erect spike of spikelets, with the spikelets more or less embedded in the axis of the spike. One distinctive feature is that the glumes of each spikelet are placed together on the outside of the spikelet and appear as if they are one glume split in two.
