Tasmania has
five introduced species of Phalaris. These are moderately
common annual and perennial weeds of a range of habitats. The
distinctive features of these species include the inflorescence
which is a dense, stiff panicle, and the spikelets flattened from
top to bottom, and with only
one fertile floret (the uppermost) and two sterile florets reduced
to lemmas or scales. |
