Aquilegia (Ranunculaceae) Not in the Students Flora
Aquilegia vulgaris (Columbine) is a very widely cultivated garden ornamental with conspicuous, brightly coloured flowers with very distinctive spurs on the petals. The leaves are trifoliate quite large and broad leaflets (typically a few cm wide and long), than are often lobed. The flowers can vary in colour (white, pink, yellow, red), but dark purple is the most common.
