Verbascum virgatum |
V. thapsus
|
Tasmania has
four introduced species of Verbascum. All species are large
and conspicuous weeds, especially in flower (because of the long
spike-like racemes of large, bright yellow flowers). The leaves of V.
thapsus (Great Mullein) are densely covered in woolly hairs. V.
creticum is also hairy, but less so. It has
only four stamens. The other two species are almost hairless. |
