Rumohra adiantiformis (Dryopteridaceae) |
|
Rumohra
adiantiformis (leathery shield fern) is the only member of this
genus in Tasmania. It is a very common and
widespread native fern that grows epiphytically, or on rocks or sometimes
on the ground in wet forests. It is a moderate sized-fern with
compound leaves (often bipinnate). The distinctive features are the
glossy, almost succulent foliage with large circular (a few mm wide)
sori with conspicuous, often black, peltate (umbrella-like) indusia. |
