Schizaea bifida (Schizaeaceae)

Schizaea bifida is a reasonably common native fern that grows on peaty and sandy soils at low altitudes in the north and east. It is a small slender plant that can easily be overlooked. Like the other species of Schizaea, it has the very distinctive comb-like fertile fronds. The fertile fronds are often branched.
