Schizaea fistulosa (Schizaeaceae)

Schizaea fistulosa is a common native fern that grows on wet peaty soils from sea level to the alpine zone. It is a small slender plant that can easily be overlooked. Like the other species of Schizaea, it has the very distinctive comb-like fertile fronds. The fronds are not branched in this species.
