Tasmania has
two introduced genera of Agavaceae. Cordyline (cabbage tree)
is a tree monocot with a branched, corky trunk a long, broad leaves
in tufts at the ends of the branches. Phormium (New Zealand
flax) is a very large tufted herb with long, broad leaves and spikes
of red flowers. |
