Pheladenia
deformis (Blue Fairies) is an uncommon orchid that grows in
heathy and grassy open forests. This species is similar in growth
habit to Caladenia species, with
a single, narrow, erect leaf, and a very thin and wiry erect
flowering stem (scape), that bears a single flower. The flower is
bright blue and large (~3-4 cm across), with widely spreading sepals
and petals. Pheladenia deformis hybridises with
Glossodia major to produce the
hybrid XGlossadenia. |
