Fake News and Superfictions

Dr Peter Hill is an artist, writer, and independent curator. He is an Adjunct Professor at RMIT University, Melbourne.

Peter is currently on a round-the-world lecture tour called Fake News and Superfictions (2017 - 2020). To date, he has given seventeen performance-lectures in different parts of the world: Melbourne; Orkney Islands; Laban School of Dance, London; Kunstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin; Artspace, Sydney. He is currently researching a Pop-up Project to take to Venice for the first week of the 2019 Venice Biennale in early May.

Peter will be undertaking a residency at Hunter Street for 2 weeks. During this time he will be joining the HDR, Masters and Honours candidates for an all day workshop, presenting a special screening of Scottish artist Rachel Maclean’s project Make Me Up on 19 March and using his time in Hobart to prepare for a Venice Biennale Pop-up Project.

Peter has completed three books:  Art in Australia from 1990 to 2020; Curious About Art: Interviews with 50 Contemporary Artists: From Marina Abramovic to Rachel Maclean; and a novel called The After-Sex Cigarette.

CAM Arts Forum is a weekly series of free public lectures held at the School of Creative Arts and Media, Hunter Street Campus, during the semester. The series provides a unique opportunity to hear local, national and international visiting artists, scholars and presenters from diverse sectors of the Creative Arts discuss their area of professional practice. All current students, prospective students, and members of the public are welcome.
