Great Stories Together

The Tasmanian Breath of Fresh Air (BOFA) Film Festival is well-known in Launceston for great films and a commitment to social engagement. The Faculty of Law is partnering with BOFA to bring 10 films from the festival to Hobart this year and UTAS students and academics are participating in the discussions in the action sessions on the environment, migration and asylum, and food and community activism.

Films include opening night launch Under Cover of Clouds by Tasmanian Director Ted Wilson, The Eulogy about musician Geoffrey Tozer, Defend-Conserve-Protect by Stephen Amis about Sea Shepherd, and powerful films about climate change, migration, strong women, and more. Action sessions post-film looking at migration, environment, and food and community are free and open to everyone and will be held at the Duke Hotel near the Village Cinemas.

This year BOFA Launceston is showing 32 films over 16-19 May and hosting an ASEAN forum focussed on Indonesia which will be run by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the University's Asia Institute on 17 May at 9-5 at the Invermay campus (registration essential.)
