Sustainability in the Pub: Pints and conversations addressing global challenges on our island one Sustainable Development Goal at a time.

Presenter(s):

  • Dr Jonathan Sumby
  • Kelsey Richardson
  • John Sansom

The United Nations set 17 “Sustainable Development Goals” as a blueprint to achieve a better, more sustainable future for all. Come along to Sustainability in the Pub to be led by some of Tasmania’s local experts in deliberating over what needs to happen today to achieve these goals by 2030.

Sustainable Development Goal 14 Life Below Water guides November's event "Hot Fish - Climate Change on the High Seas". While the much visible youth-led Extinction Rebellion movement takes to streets worldwide and seeks influence through social media, what is happening in our ocean to combat the effects of global warming on the fishing industry? And without adequate intervention, what will be the impact on our food supply?

"Hot Fish - Climate Change on the High Seas" is led in conversation by ABC's Zoe Kean. We bring together speakers offering their personal perspectives on the impacts of a changing climate on our fishing industry, followed by an audience Q&A.

  • Dr Jonathan Sumby, IMAS UTAS
  • Kelsey Richardson, CSIRO
  • John Sansom, CEO Tasmanian Rock Lobster Fishermen’s Association

You’re invited to Sustainability in the Pub to discuss, deliberate, drink and decide how to make sure our future is a glass half full not half empty.
