Following the publication of two books, commissioned by World Scientific Publishing Company, Professor Robert Delbourgo will pick out six topics from his first book that have resonated within the physics community:

  • Barcarolle - On stability of flotation 
  • Leitmotif - Graphene graphics
  • Atonal notes - Universality in Chaos
  • Cadenza - On minimal quantum uncertainty
  • An anomalous theme - Dimensional variations
  • Con Gravitas - The symmetry group of quantum gravity

About the speaker

Em. Professor Robert Delbourgo BSc, ARCS, PhD, DSc, FAIP, FAA, FInstP (born 11 November 1940) waseducated at the Imperial College of Science and Technology (BSc (Hons) 1960, PhD 1963) and University ofLondon (DSc 1976). His PhD was obtained under the supervision of Professor Abdus Salam (who won theNobel Prize in Physics in 1979). Salam and Delbourgo have co-authored 30 research publications. Delbourgobecame a Research Associate, University of Wisconsin 1963 to 1964; Research Scientist, International Centrefor Theoretical Physics 1964 to 1965; Lecturer in Physics, Imperial College 1966 to 1972, Reader 1972 to1976; Professor of Physics, University of Tasmania 1976 to 2001, Emeritus Professor from 2001. Delbourgo isa Fellow of the Australian Institute of Physics, Australian Academy of Science.
