Summary:Join Megan Smith to explore climate change impacts on health services, and how health professionals might respond
Social Workers and other Allied Health professionals often think of themselves as separate to the issues of climate change. However, a growing understanding of the impacts of climate change in communities across Australia increasingly challenges this assumption. From the community development and mental health challenges faced by regional communities devastated by fires, to the increased disease burden on our health care system, the challenges of a destabilised climate impact the work we do. As a former Social Worker, with a background in Community Development and Economics, Megan is keen to explore what those impacts might be, and what opportunities for Health Professionals to respond exist.
