Summary:Royal Institution of Naval Architects Tasmanian Section Technical Meeting
Presenter(s):
- Daniel Webster, Electrical Engineering Manager, Serco Defence
Following on from our series of Antarctic engineering talks in 2020, this talk focuses on further engineering aspects of the RSV Nuyina, including the Hybrid propulsion and Testing program.
Australia will soon take delivery of an extraordinary new icebreaker vessel to support our Antarctic Program. The multi-role RSV Nuyina, which will replace the Aurora Australis, will deliver significantly increased ship performance, cargo logistics and marine science support facilities over her much loved but ageing predecessor.
In this presentation the author will summarise the design and construction process so far and discuss some of the challenges faced along the way.
