Tracing your family history…bring the past to life
Family history is for everybody. We all have stories in our family tree waiting to be told. Come and hear about how you can learn to research and record your family history using best-practice family history research methods.
Panelists will include:
- Dr Kate Bagnall – who coordinates the Family History program at the University of Tasmania and, in her research, explores histories of migration and citizenship in collaboration with family historians
- Dr Imogen Wegman – who researches life in the Australian colonies by looking at historic maps and landscapes, and enjoys sharing her love of historic cartography to help others with their family history research
- Peter and Judy Cocker (Burnie Branch – Tasmanian Family History Society) – Peter has specific knowledge on computer software for genealogy and on the Advocate Archive collection they hold, while Judy has specific knowledge of the Burnie Library holdings which contain a rich collection of Burnie (and its surrounds) history.
So come and join us for some family history fun and have some nibbles in a relaxed environment.
