In this Twilight Masterclass, we will present and discuss a number of education technology and extended reality (XR) projects, primarily focused on multi-disciplinary research in simulation learning, digital humanities and digital health. Virtual Reality (VR) technology simulates the real-world scenario in an immersive digital environment, and Augmented Reality (AR) usually provides a hybrid user experience by combining the digital elements and real-world context.

AR and VR in the education technology space have been extensively used for various research-creation contexts and serious games applications. These include education, training, digital heritage, digital tourism, manufacturing, real estate, and medical and health sciences simulation.

Ongoing development of emerging technologies continues to provide educators and learners opportunities to develop skills as end-users of the technologies, but also opportunities to be creators of future technologies. However, more research is needed in investigating how extended reality technologies can be introduced in the teaching and learning context in terms of technical requirements and user experience aspects, especially in making digital technologies content accessible and inclusive.

The session will be suitable for members of the community, educators, student-teachers, PhD candidates and researchers. In this session, we will look at some featured collaborative projects and will discuss future research possibilities. A few demo prototypes will be made available on-site and participants would be able to experience some of those education technology and XR projects.

Come and join us for some interesting conversations and grab a beverage and some nibbles in a relaxed environment.
