HECS Scholarships Available at UTAS

HECS Scholarships Available at UTAS

Eligibility Criteria Common to All HECS Scholarships

  • While a student may apply for more than one HECS scholarship, they are only eligible to receive one University of Tasmania HECS scholarship at a time.
Should a student already have a Fee Waiver or Scholarship of any kind, this will be taken into consideration in the assessment.
  • HECS Scholarships cover a maximum of 25 credit points, unless stated otherwise with in the Eligibility Criteria relevant to each specific HECS scholarship.
  • HECS scholarships are only available to students studying in a Commonwealth Supported Place.
  • It is the student's responsibility to check the individual Eligibility Criteria specific to the HECS scholarship they wish to apply for.
  • Applications must be made annually, and will be accepted where the census date for a unit has not passed.
  • Fee waivers are assessed for enrolments in the main semesters (Semester 1 and Semester 2) each year.
  • Students applying for a HECS scholarship for the summer, winter, or spring semesters are required to apply online and also email the Fees Unit (via U.Connect@utas.edu.au) to advise that a minor semester assessment is required.
  • Where a change to a student's current or future enrolment affects an assessment that has already been finalised, it is the student's responsibility to ensure the Fees Unit is advised that a reassessment is required prior to the applicable census date.
  • Retrospective applications, and requests to re-assess, which are made after the applicable census date, will not be considered or assessed.

Timeframes

Assessments occur twice a year, commencing at the start of each main semester.

Semester one assessments will include any applications submitted from the 1st of January (in the related year of application) up until the census date of semester one (in the related year of application).

Semester two assessments will include any applications submitted on the day after the semester one census date (in the related year of application) up until the census date of semester two (in the related year of application).

Please note: If you are only enrolled in a summer, winter or spring unit you will need to advise the Fees Unit (via U.Connect@utas.edu.au) that an assessment outside of the main semesters is required.
