Launch of website for parents in academia

The launch of a new website designed to help carers and parents with family life and academia

The personal experience of Dr Kirsty Nash, an IMAS and CMS Research Fellow, of juggling motherhood with an academic career has led to the creation of a new website designed to help carers and parents cope with the twin pressures of family life and academia.

akidemiclife.com was launched in Hobart on Tuesday 5th March by the Governor of Tasmania, Professor Kate Warner, who raised a family while a senior academic in the University’s Faculty of Law.

The site includes stories of other academics who’ve combined research with caring responsibilities, advice about how to manage issues such as parental leave, travel, finances and health and well-being, and links to relevant information from a number of countries around the world.
