In December 2019, the University of Tasmania welcomed a delegation from the Indonesian Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries led by Mr Maman Hermawan, Secretary of Agency for Marine and Fisheries Research and Human Resources.
He is accompanied by Mr Bambang Suprakto, Head of Marine and Fisheries Education Center, Mr Dwi Hertanto, Deputy Director of Education Planning Program Division, Mrs Normal Manoppo, Assistant Deputy Director of Education Program Sub Division, Ms Kiestiko Sri Saptasari, Assistant Deputy Director of Cooperation Sub Division and Mr Peter Craven, Tasmania Chairman, Australia Indonesia Business Council.
The delegates the Australian Maritime College in Launceston, toured the Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies facilities at Salamanca and Taroona.
They were welcomed by Mr Rob Wilson, Deputy Vice - Chancellor Global (Acting), Mr Terry Bailey, Executive Director, (IMAS) and Professor Chris Carter, Deputy Executive Director and Academic Director (IMAS).
Of particular interest during this visit, were discussions on opportunities in marine and maritime collaboration.
