The University welcomes Governor of South Sulawesi

The Governor Elect of South Sulawesi, Professor Nurdin Abdullah visited the University of Tasmania in October 2019.

The delegation from South Sulawesi was accompanied by Mr Aron Corbett, Australian Consulate General Makassar. Professor Abdullah and colleagues were hosted by Mr Terry Bailey, Executive Director, Institute of Marine and Antarctic Sciences (IMAS), Professor Ted LeFroy, Director (Acting) Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture (TIA) . and colleagues. As part of the Australian Government’s Special Visits Program, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade have supported Professor Abdullah’s visit to Tasmania. The Special Visits Program engages senior interlocutors with government, business, academic and community representatives to support a greater understanding of Australia and to explore opportunities for future collaboration.

Of particular interest during this visit, were discussions on opportunities in marine and maritime collaboration along with agricultural innovations for Indonesia.
