Visit from the Establishment Committee of the Indonesia Maritime University

The Establishment Committee of The Indonesian Maritime University visited Tasmania in early April 2019. The delegates toured University of Tasmania, Sandy Bay campus, the Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) and the Australia Maritime College (AMC) which included discussions on potential collaboration in maritime affairs, spanning focus in economics, diplomacy, culture and history.

The Establishment Committee of The Indonesian Maritime University visited Tasmania in early April 2019. The delegates toured University of Tasmania, Sandy Bay campus, the Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) and the Australia Maritime College (AMC) which included discussions on potential collaboration in maritime affairs, spanning focus in economics, diplomacy, culture and history.

The formation of the  Indonesian Maritime University is a strategic initiative of the Indonesian government, and the University of Tasmania aims to provide collegial academic support in its formation.

During their visit, the delegates were hosted at a dinner which included both university and key industry and research contacts in Tasmania, such as the Defence Advocate Rear Admiral Steve Gilmore (Rtd.), the Australian Antarctic Division and PFG Group.
