You can study up to four units, or as few as one unit of study, in semester 2 2020 and continue your studies in 2021 under the full fee waiver scholarship. This means the course remains free to complete in 2021 for those that start it in 2020.

Yes. You are able to defer your enrolment to 2021 if you are unable to continue in 2020. A Graduate Certificate is a stand-alone degree attesting to your university level studies in a certain area. Normally it is taken by those who have already completed a bachelor degree and are looking to broaden or deepen their qualifications to flexibly leverage their skills and experience either up to, or across to, a promotion or role in a new field. The University of Tasmania will also accept students with equivalent professional experience if you do not already have a bachelor degree.

The University of Tasmania will also accept students with relevant industry experience if you do not already have a bachelor degree. Apart from the many benefits of a attaining a formal university qualification, completing a Graduate Certificate qualifies you to go on to study a Master degree, such as a Master of Business Administration (International ), or Master of Tourism, Environment and Cultural Heritage. Where applicable you may also be able to receive credit for the units you have already completed in the Graduate Certificate . This means that what you study in the Graduate Certificate can count towards a Master degree if you choose to continue your studies beyond 2020.

You will need to have access to a computer to complete either of these Graduate Certificates. If you don't have your own computer, perhaps someone in your household has one.

You will also require a reliable internet connection. You should expect to download about 1-2 GB of data each month while studying.

From time to time the University of Tasmania offers some study options with concession tuition fees. These are generally online options which help increase community awareness and skills.

For many potential students, the cost of university study is a significant barrier; and those who haven’t studied for some time may appreciate the opportunity to develop confidence in their ability to succeed at a university program without the pressure of tuition fees. In addition, we believe that the development of skills in these topics is critical to community advancement and social cohesion – especially in our current environment. These concessions are part of meeting our University’s broader community obligation.

The University may receive funding for Commonwealth Supported Places and will waive any fees relating to student contribution. You will need to meet the eligibility requirements for a Commonwealth Supported Place for your fees to be waived.

Choose the Graduate Certificate you’d like to study, click on ‘Apply’ and follow for instructions on the full process. If you meet the entry requirements we will automatically enrol you into all four units. If you prefer to study part time you can opt out of any you do not wish to undertake this year and instead take them in 2021.
