How to Participate?

Graduation is an important time for the staff and graduands of the University of Tasmania. The University encourages you to participate in graduation to celebrate the achievements of your graduands.

As a staff member, you can participate in graduation in the following ways:

  • Join the academic procession;
  • Apply for guest tickets for yourself, family members or University stakeholders;
  • Nominate students to give the Valedictory Address at their ceremony; and
  • Volunteer to help at the ceremonies or Town and Gown processions.

Staff registration forms will published below (on this page) three months in advance of each graduation round.

Please select the links below to be re-directed to the appropriate online form.

Registration forms will require logging in with a staff username and password. For any queries, please contact Events and Protocol - E: UTAS.Events@utas.edu.au; P: 03 6226 2521

Accessing Academic Dress

The Events and Protocol Unit holds a supply of University of Tasmania academic dress that is available to staff free of charge. Academic regalia will be available in the Robing Room (located at the ceremony venue) prior to each graduation ceremony. A full range of sizes will be available including gowns, hoods, trenchers and bonnets. It is recommended that those participating in the procession arrive no later than 20 minutes prior to the ceremony.

Your honesty in returning the regalia to the Robing Room at the completion of the ceremony is highly valued.

For further information please contact Events and Protocol by email: UTAS.Events@utas.edu.au or phone:+61 3 6226 2521.

Academic Dress can be purchased through the University Shop on the Sandy Bay campus, or direct from the supplier, Blashki. Please note that this is a tax deductible expense for staff members.

Volunteering

The Events and Protocol team are responsible for the event delivery of University of Tasmania graduations. They encourage University staff who would like to volunteer to assist before or during a ceremony, or Town and Gown procession, to take an active role assisting with the delivery of graduation and enhancement of the experience for our graduands. For staff who would like to volunteer at graduation please visit the information for volunteers page for further information.
