Statistics Education – Data Handling

Unit description:

Considers topics from the grade 5–9 mathematics curriculum related to data collection and sampling, and data representation. Background knowledge necessary to teach the topics, classroom activities, research on student understanding, multimedia approaches to data handling (eg software and videos), and motivational materials from the news media will be included in the unit. Current curriculum documents will be assessed in relation to teachers’ classroom requirements.
