Offered: Hobart: semester 2

Unit description:

This unit is part of a program devoted to communication, gender and education. Selected literature is examined to develop an awareness of the literary narrative as a shaper of changing human consciousness. The unit studies the effects of both language and literature on the understanding of gender difference and how these influence learning and teaching style and the choice of materials. It also studies changing views of the lives of women and men in the literature studied and the implications these views may have for the formulation of educational goals.
