Unit description:

Involves a selected examination of various aspects of the art, architecture and cultural history of Thailand. The unit aims to provide students with the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of the world and their place within it, an important career building goal in a time when all professions are becoming increasingly interdependent and international. During three weeks of overseas study, students will be encouraged to challenge themselves in a different learning environment and will acquire insights into the formation of cultural attitudes.

The unit has four basic components: general preparatory pre travel lectures at the Launceston campus; lectures on campus at Silpakorn University in Bangkok and Nakorn Pathom; travel to and tours in Thailand; and lectures on campus at Chiang Mai University.
