Shakespeare’s Comedies

Unit description:

Provides an introduction to Shakespearean comedy with an emphasis upon performance history, comic conventions and historic contexts. Comedies from different phases of Shakespeare’s career will be considered with attention to the varying conceptions of gender, love, sexuality, and power contested within them.
