Bachelor of Applied Science with Honours (BApplSc(Hons) - Medical Laboratory Science

This on campus course is offered at Launceston and requires a minimum of 1 year full-time study.

Admission requirements & prerequisites
Applicants need to have qualified for admission to the degree of Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent.

Course objectives
The Honours degree in Medical Laboratory Science is designed to provide students with the foundations necessary for research in Medical Laboratory Science, to assume a leadership role in their profession and to gain a greater expertise in the discipline.

Course structure
One year full-time work. Candidates will be required to submit a research thesis on work undertaken as part of the honours course. All candidates will be required to study the unit Scientific Analysis and Presentation. Completion of a unit in electron microscopy will be required for students studying in an area requiring such knowledge. Other requirements for the course include a literature review, directly related to the thesis, and an essay. Students will be required to present their research work at a seminar.

Assessment
Research thesis and seminar (50%); literature review (15%); essay and coursework units (35%).
