Preplacement Risk Assessment 2022

Professional Experience Placement (PEP) is fundamental to supporting safe, capable student practice and work-readiness, and thus form a central part of curriculum requirements. As the COVID-19 situation is progressing and changing, many students understandably, are feeling uncertain about the potential for placement disruption or cancellation and the implications this has for meeting course requirements. Additionally, many students are trying to navigate how to ensure safety for themselves and their significant others, whilst seeking to progress in their degree.

Currently, advice from the Department of Health (DoH), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) in Tasmania, and New South Wales Health, which the University of Tasmania is following, is to continue supporting ongoing student placement, where possible. However, due to workforce constraints, and other site-specific factors and risks, organisations hosting student placements are making varied decisions about placement cancellations, suspensions or increased student preparation requirements. Students, depending on their own situation, are also weighing the factors of benefit and risk in terms of continuing or accepting upcoming placements.

To support the consideration of your safety, individual needs and preferences, as well as the requirements and safety of placement agencies and the wider community, your School needs you to complete the following form. If you have any questions regarding this form, please feel free to contact your course or unit coordinator.

Please check your residential and term addresses, mobile phone number and next of kin details are up-to-date in eStudent, prior to your placement.
