Tasmania is well known for its jam-packed, year-long festival and events calendar. Whether you’re into music, films, boating or gourmet dining, Tassie has an event (or three!) to get you excited.
Kicking off every New Year is the battle between two of our biggest events: Falls Festival, an international outdoor rock concert near the beach; and the Taste of Tasmania – an opportunity to munch on Tasmania’s best food and beverages while watching the maxi yachts battle it out for line honours in the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.
Not long after, it’s the quirky international festival of music and art, MONA FOMA (MOFO). Run by Hobart’s edgy Museum of Modern Art, it is as wild and progressive as MONA itself.
If you’re into a more traditional take on art and music, then the Ten Days on the Island or Festival of Voices might be more your thing. Films? Try the BOFA Festival. Sport? Try the Royal Hobart Regatta for three days of aquatic mayhem or the Hobart International Tennis.
Come winter, there’s MOFO’s wildly weird winter sister, Dark Mofo and the Huon Mid-Winter Festival.
And in between? Oh there’s a whole host of things from mural fests, Italian fiestas, book fairs, chocolate feasts, penny farthing championships, adventure sport challenges and… well, check out Discover Tasmania’s events calendar!
