Tim Burns

Timothy (Tim) Burns (b 1960) artist, was born in Sydney and studied art at the Alexander Mackie College of Advanced Education 1979–81, the Victorian College of the Arts 1984–86, and completed a Masters degree at the Tasmanian School of Art 1988–90, where he lectured in painting and drawing from 1988–99.

Widely exhibited throughout Australia, Tim is well represented in public collections nationally, and in private collections in Australia, New Zealand, Japan and North America. He has a substantial record of prizes, grants, scholarships and commissions. His work is driven by his interaction with the Tasmanian landscape, particularly those places with which he feels an affinity – Bruny Island, the Bay of Fires, the south-west coast and the Huon Valley where he has lived, at Judbury, since 1991.
