How the My Units Widget Pins its Units

This information page outlines how the My Units widget pins your units for you. Staff and Students can continue to manually pin units as appropriate for their purposes. Staff and Students can also unpin units once the unit has completed. Instructions on how to pin/ unpin your units this can be found here: How to pin your units.

If there are less than 50 total enrolments, they are sorted as follows:

  • The My Units widget shows manually pinned units followed by current enrolments, then future enrolments (if they are available or visible to the user) for a total of 12 enrolments. Note that more than 12 if all the unit enrolments might appear if they are all manually pinned.
  • The Unit Selector (The Waffle) drop-down menu shows manually pinned units, followed by current enrolments, then future enrolments (if they are available and visible to the user), and finally, past enrolments (if they are visible to the user).
  • The View All Courses navigation drills down into the units by showing manually pinned units, followed by current enrolments, then future enrolments (if available and visible to the user), then past enrolments (if available or visible to the user) as the default sort. If the user changes the sort order, the filter does not separate pinned units from other units based on sort order, filters, and search terms.

If there are more than 50 total enrolments, they are sorted as follows:

  • The My Units widget shows manually pinned units followed by up to 12 last-accessed units. Note that more than 12 units might appear in the widget if they are all manually pinned.
  • The Unit Selector (The Waffle) drop-down menu shows manually pinned units, followed by up to 12 last-accessed units, followed by all remaining units available to the user.
  • The View all Courses area shows manually pinned units followed by up to 12 last-accessed units, followed by all remaining units available or visible to the user as the sort order. If the user changes the sort order, the filter does not separate pinned units from other units based on the sort order, filters, and search terms.

In addition, there are interface improvements, including:

  • Pinned units now have a visible pin icon on the unit title in the My Units widget, similar to the Unit Selector visible state.
  • The Unit Starts message now includes a time as well as a date.
  • Newly-pinned units are added to the bottom of the pinned list.
