A priority of the College of Business and Economics (COBE) is contributing to the sustainability of local, regional and global communities. In May, we were delighted to help Dress for Success Hobart with their vision of empowering Tasmanian women to overcome barriers to employment.

Dress for Success Hobart empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and development tools to help them thrive in work and life. They offer clothing and styling advice for women looking to re-enter the workforce after a period of unemployment or need to dress formally for situations like a court appearance, attending a funeral, returning to the community after a period of imprisonment, or other circumstances where access to these services would make a difference.

During May, the College held clothing drives in Hobart and Launceston to collect professional clothing donations to support Dress for Success in this life-changing work. The College was delighted to see much loved but no longer needed (or, sadly, fitting) clothes stock the DFS boutique.

Dress for Success Hobart also provides a comprehensive career support program to build skills, knowledge and confidence in women looking to achieve their employment or study goals. This includes CV and resume advice, job application tips, interview preparation and career support workshops.
