Policy principles must be consistent with but not duplicate University ordinances, the University By-Laws, legislation, regulatory and other compliance requirements.
A policy principle is required where there is a need to direct decision making, beyond existing compliance requirements.
Policy principles must:
- be in plain English and succinct such that they are clear and understandable
- be clear about who they apply to
- use active language
- describe the what and the who, not the how
- not be duplicated
- be grouped into policies in a way that is meaningful, logical and maximises discoverability.
